This is a project I started after receiving a travels grant to go to Jerusalem during the festival of Tischa B’Av – a feast of mourning where the jewish people remember the loss of their holy temple, and other more recent history of tragedy – like the holocaust. In 1 Corinthians 6:19 it says “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit”. My project was connected to the thought that our bodies are something holy. If so – what then would be our response when we see human suffering, but to lament. This project was about collective and individual sorrow, dealing with the sense of loss, being exiled, sickness and death. It is a memento mori – contemplating death and human suffering. Some of the works later was exhibited at Konstforum in Norrköping, Sweden.
